Endurance

What about all those people who "stick it out" where this (being married to one's best friend)  is not the  case? Just wondering here.

I knew this  church - going 90 year old in Sea Cliff, NY where I once lived. Her husband died. They had been married over 60 years. When I saw her after the funeral and offered her my sympathy, she responded with, "I am happy he is gone. Now I can get some peace and do what I want. It was a terrible marriage!". She got to enjoy life for a little over a year after this.

Do most people suffer in silence? Well, maybe not silence, but lots of people must just "tough it out" and stay married.

How many people really end up married to a best friend? How many people simply don't admit to being mildly or completely unhappy? I am curious.

My mother's advice was that one "makes one's bed and must lay in it.". End of discussion for many I think.
