If you don't happen to like it, pass me by . . .

I get myself into things that I do not really want to do very much down the line or as I get more into the nitty gritty. I do not find committee work to be much fun. It is just "unpaid work" to me.. Why do I keep committing to things that eventually are too demanding to suit me and that I really just do not want to do? Probably I just want to please in the moment. Some things I do like that I do, however. I  really enjoy the one day a week art sessions (CAA Independent Art) that I do every Wednesday. I love the Facebook "Castine Maine Calendar" that I work on each day. The Facebook page that goes with Independent is fine, too, but the rest? Go away! I WANT TO TAKE WALKS AND READ AND GARDEN AND PAINT AND BE WITH MY FAMILY JUST ENJOYING LIFE. I AM RETIRED FOR CRAP'S SAKE! One sure has to be careful Now the getting out of what I am into could get sort of tricky . . .

I've got me ten fine toes to wiggle in the sand.
Lots of idle fingers snap to my command.
A lively pair of heels that kick to beat the band.
Contemplatin' nature can be fascinatin'.
Add to these a nose that I can thumb,
And a mouth by gum have I,
To tell the whole darn world if you don't happen to like it deal me out,
Thankyou kindly Pass Me By

Chorus: Pass Me By-y, Pass Me By-y-y.
If you don't happen to like it Pass Me By.

I've got me two great shoes that never saw a shine.
Trousers I can hold up with a laundry line.
A lovely patch that hides an awful lot of spine.
Shirt-tails flyin', I'm a bloomin' dandelion!
Add to these a grin from ear to ear,
And all the proper gear have I,
To tell the whole darn world if you don't like the assortment deal me out,
Thank you - kindly Pass Me By

Chorus: Pass Me By-y, Pass Me By-y-y.
If you don't happen to like it Pass Me By.

How do I get out of these two things happening in Castine that I won't even be around for? Why did I let myself be appointed to committees and even head them? How do I not worry about losing face? I am not getting my own regular work done due to too many activities and before too long I will have to be away for months at a time for something so wonderfully special, but I cannot be two places at once. Help! Really help!

Last Day of Winter Snow Storm

Snowing heavily all day long. The first day of spring and we have a nor'easter. Snow began falling early in Castine—just the beginning of what forecasters predict this late winter nor’easter will bring by tomorrow, which is, by the way, the first day of spring!
