The big bridge that has connected all the distant towns and "worlds" (Anterion, Rio and Patras and the three light houses my great grandfather once lighted each evening) of my graandparents in their time in Greece before coming to America. The top two photos are of a lighthouse located under the castle around of Napfaktos harbour. Nafpactosis the capital of Nafpactia sub-prefecture, located in Aetoloacarnania prefecture. It is located in Corinthian Bay's entrance, between Rio - Antirio channel and river Momos mouth. Is one of the few Greek towns that managed to survive and to pass from prehistorical age to nowadays.http://aliceabbottkimball.blogspot.com/2013/03/march-10-2013.html
The bottom group of photos is of the light house near where Yiayia was born. Her father kept that light then but worked with all three lights shown here we think. He, my great grandfather was Tom Bilianis. Many Bilianis are in that town in Greece still today and the old family home was there the last time anyone of us last visited in the mid-nineties. The connecting bridge is new. It is a wow!

Dinner tonight used up a lot of Greek Yogurt and was outstanding. First we had yesterday fish made into a delicious bowl of Greek fish soup. There was a glass of red wine and a small Greek salad dressed perfectly. The main course included Tzatiki, skewers of perfectly broiled chicken that had been marinated in a heavenly sauce and some warm pita bread. A+ to me the chef:) | |
